How Stories Can Paint The Pictures We Can’t See

Image from: The Sbs

The ideologies and understand of story telling pass down from generation to generation. Words in this cause tend to have the higher power then what pictures do. So like and unlike Instagram, Pinterest has description but also link to another website which shows the origin of the picture and likely the story behind it. As was stated through the lecture this week, “Stories are Ways of Seeing” (Kuttainen, 2015).
Pinterest in a way dose not really show the signs of stories, as it was said by Bruce Chatwin, “A Song', he said, 'was both a map and direction finder. Providing you knew the song, you could always find your way across country.” (Chatwin, 1987). Yes Pinterest is amped out and yes it is easily to find stuff, but it does not give you that singing factor which is generally learned in person.
This Weeks lecture and reading don't really relate to Pinterest that much, so hopefully i will be able to write something more interesting next week.

  1. I agree with you, because the images have less context and personal information than a story that can be sang you are not able to have a connection to the place or the image. And it seems that without this connection the picture becomes only just something to be admired or appreciated, leaving the viewer and even the poster not understanding it's full meaning. This week was hard, hope it gets easier from here.
