Ontology – It is a systematic theory of existence (JCU learn, 2015). When online, how do you exist? Are you an avid user that always is uploading your hottest selfie your latest meal? Or do you fly under the radar and prefer to take a spectators point of view? Either way when you are on Instagram you are either using or communicating with hashtags, the mysterious, wonderful pound key.
Hashtags as mentioned in previous blogs are helpful with connecting users with common interests together. Even so, since the creation of Instagram in XXXX, hashtags have practically became a new sub language.
How does two horizontal and two vertical lines crossing over become so important in modern day communication? Especially within the world of Instagram Hashtags in their simplest form work like hyperlinks. Hashtags are also used for shortening or summarising sentences, or if you’re friends with one of those really annoying users, you may witness full sentences turned into hashtags which is the epitome of stupid. Don’t be one of those people.
